History

EL HINOJAL ® Soc. Coop. started its activity in 1983 as a small family-owned company. It was called after the Patron Saint of our village, Nuestra Señora de El Hinojal de Paradinas de San Juan, one small town in the region of Salamanca of a typical Castilian social-economic structure.

Everything started when grandfather Heli, at the end of the Civil War, did the military service in Valladolid in the supplies section. There he learned the job of bakers and when he returned to the village he decided to establish a wood-fired oven and to manufacture bread with the wheat and flour produced by his own neighbours. Those were difficult times in Spain but in this oven, his ten children learned the job.

Always alert at the natural development of the market and thanks to the family, EL HINOJAL ® Soc. Coop. has turned into a great company offering the market a broad array of products (both of a traditional and local root and of new and awesome for the eye and for the taste) and investigating new and more efficient distribution, management and communication methods. Today we are more than thirty people working at the service of quality and consumer. We manufacture and trade more than 500 references. We count on five shops of specialized sales and our products can be found in more than 200 distribution centres all around the province.
